A company with a heart

It’s not often that a corporate fundraiser includes a prize that is hairy, has horns and bleats. But it was one of the most popular items on offer when VERICO, a national mortgage brokers’network, hosted its annual member appreciation night. The evening included a fundraiser for Plan.

“We had a spa package, a golf trip with the president, a wine package,” says VERICO vice-president Karla Dreyer. “But for some reason, when people were given the chance to simplybuy a goat to help a poor family in another country, the crowd got very excited.”

Besides raising money for Plan through special events, the group also sponsors a girl in Vietnam.

“If you’re passionate about children and passionate about helping communities around the world,” says Dreyer, “Plan is the charity to work with.”
